Biographies of the SCCT Board Members
(in alphabetic order)
- Janet Brinkop has participated in amateur theater productions since college where her love of dance and choreography first emerged. She has 30 years experience as a performer and choreographer for the San Carlos Chickens Ball and Kiwanis Shows, and has studied dance at Canada College where she performed in many dance productions. "I like to tell a story through movement, and always visualize the choreography from the perspective of the audience. The goal is for the audience to feel energized, surprised, and amused by what they see and hear." Janet is especially thrilled to work with children whose guileless energy raises the creative bar.
- Debbie Fowler is President of the Board of Directors. She was drawn to SCCT when her own children expressed an interest in the theater and jumped right in as producer and costumer designer from her first show. She has a background in teaching music and directing performances for school and fondly remembers her days on stage as a budding actress. Her favorite part of being with SCCT is working with the great families and helping to select scripts for future shows.
- Xanthe Craft Hopp began her association with SCCT in 2002, as the parent of the little 8-year-old cast as Cinderella's cat in Hip Hop Cinderella. With no prior theater experience but loads of encouragement, she took on the job of Set Designer for that production, and more since then, and has loved every moment spent working with the directors, actors, and families of SCCT. Xanthe has a pair of jeans with paint on them from almost every SCCT show since summer 2002, and a B. Arch. from Virginia Tech.
- Susie Licko has a passionate interest in seeing SCCT expand its exposure and presence as a quality community focused youth theater organization. Her own son recently began acting with SCCT, with Susie immersing herself in play production. She has a background in marketing and enjoys working with the great families, seeing the progress of inspiring actors and seeing productions take shape into fabulous sold-out shows and great entertainment for one and all.
- Kevin Murphy is a native of San Carlos who returned in 1992 to get married and raise a family. He started writing songs at the age of 17, very much under the influence of the Beatles and late 60’s folk-rock. By the late 70’s he was a part of the San Francisco cabaret scene as a member of the group Tru-Art, which managed to land a song on Dr. Demento’s year end top 100 list. When his son, John, was cast in Wagon Wheel’s a-Rollin’ in 2005, Kevin contributed original songs and dance numbers. By the time he joined the board in June 2006 he had composed music and created sound cues for six shows and served as the musical director for Aladdin’s Magical Lamp. He was a recipient of SCCT’s Starlight Award in 2006.
- Robin Pang-Maganaris, an educator by profession, has a keen interest in seeing children on-stage and shining through performing arts. She was originally drawn to SCCT by the acting ambition of her daughter but remains with SCCT committed to seeing other children having the same opportunities as her daughter.
- Robin Weber returned to SCCT as the Treasurer in
2007 having begun her relationship with SCCT as the Treasurer in 1999.
Robin has lived in San Carlos for 25 years and during that time has
enjoyed volunteering in the community with the Chickens' Ball, Kiwanis
Show and SCCT. It is so great to come back and see how much SCCT
has grown and how much it has to offer to our young people.
