Rising stars of all levels learn how to make audiences laugh while developing and strengthening basic acting skills in this fun San Carlos Children’s Theater class. In our silly, mixed-up script, Cinderella dreams NOT about going to a ball, but about going to school to become a veterinarian! But first she’ll have to convince her fairy godmothers that she knows what’s best for herself. Actors build confidence and great memories together as they play theater games and perform on the small stage using minimal props and costumes. Final class features a performance for family and friends.

Friends Play Group is a social skills workshop designed for small groups of socially delayed children, ages 6-9 years old. Using drama, pretend play and role playing, children actively participate in modeling new skills that help them become better social thinkers. The students are videotaped as they demonstrate their newly learned skills.
For visual learners, having a take-home DVD, featuring themselves, helps children to practice their new skills long after the play group ends. Some of the skills taught are:
Friendly greetings and goodbyes
Self-calming strategies
Sharing
Losing the game and fair play
Dealing with a bully
Flexible thinking
Team work and collaborative play
Asking a friend to play
Exploring feelings of shyness
What is compassion
